The Old Dominion Athletic Conference named EMU midfielder Dave Drafton (Alexandria, Va./Howard Gardner) the men's soccer Player of the Week today.
Drafton is having a fantastic start to his junior season, having a hand in each of EMU's game-winning goals in their 2-0 week.
In Wednesday's overtime win at Wesley, Drafton scored the winner in the 99th minute when he got to the end line and put his shot in off a defender. Then in Saturday's home opener, another 2-1 win, he started the second goal with a shot from the right wing, setting up David Shafer (Maitland, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) for the clinching score. Drafton's three points last week make him tied for second on the team in points.
The Royals are off to a 3-1 start to the year, losing only to 2016 NCAA team Maryville in their season opener.
Eastern Mennonite is at home again Tuesday night, hosting Ferrum College at 7:00pm in Harrisonburg.
