EMU's golf men participated in the Shenandoah Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the Winchester Country Club in Winchester. For the first time this year, the Royals put a full team on the course and they came home with consistent cards.

Andrew Alderfer (Faber, Va./Nelson County) led the way for Eastern Mennonite, hitting rounds of 81 and 83 on the par-71 course, finishing tied for 57th at 164 (+22). Alderfer hit a team-best 17 pars at the tourney.

Lucas Miller (San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) was two strokes behind his teammate each day and finished 64th with a 168 (+26). In his first outing as a Royal, junior-transfer Riley Kingsley (North Newton, Kan./Newton) struck 14 pars and took six strokes off his score on Monday with an 82. His two-day total of 170 (+28) put him tied for 66th.

Benjamin Shenk (Elkton, Va./Page County) was tied for 70th at 173 (+31) while sophomore Chris Fenn (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen), also in his first time out, carded a 206 (+64).

As a team, all four of EMU's scorers carded rounds between 81 and 88 on each day of the tournament. The Royals had totals of 337 and 338 to come in at 675 (+107).

Hampden-Sydney had the individual and team winners. Allen Smith shot a 65 on Sunday and made the lead stick for a two-day total of 139 (-3). The Tigers finished at 580 for a 20-stroke win over Mary Washington.

The Royals have a little break from competition before the Emory & Henry Fall Classic on Oct. 2 and 3 in Abingdon, Va.
