Baseball Men Land Trio On All-ODAC Second Team
EMU’s offensive resurgence this season has led to three players earning All-ODAC mention, with all three being named to the All-ODAC Second Team. Senior outfielder Beau Banglesdorf got his second All-ODAC award, while freshmen and high school teammates Justin Rodriguez and Chris Rodriguez were placed on the Second Team.

Marlins Sweep Baseball Men To Close Season
The Royals wrapped up their 2012 season on Saturday, by taking on a streaking Virginia Wesleyan team on the road. The Marlins, who had beaten No. 2 Christopher Newport the day before, kept on their roll as they swept Eastern Mennonite in the season finale for both teams.

Generals Take Down EMU On Senior Day
Thursday’s Senior Recognition was perfect on many levels, all except for the final outcome. After getting rained out on Wednesday, Eastern Mennonite’s baseball men honored their five seniors under beautiful skies, but then visiting Washington and Lee stole the show by handing the Royals a 9-3 loss.

Baseball's Senior Game Postponed To Thursday
Rainy weather in Harrisonburg today has forced the postponement of the Eastern Mennonite baseball game with Washington and Lee. The ODAC contest, which is also EMU's Senior Recognition, will now be played tomorrow, Thursday, April 19. Game time remains at 4:00pm.

Baseball Men Drop Two In Greensboro
After earning a split the previous day at Roanoke, the Royals couldn’t put their hits together on Sunday. Despite rapping out 14 hits against Guilford, the men took an 18-5 loss. They also suffered a 7-2 defeat against Greensboro College.

Royals Control Middle Innings But Fall To Shenandoah
EMU can score runs this year. But stopping the other team has proven difficult at times. Monday night the Royals were at Shenandoah, ranked No. 12 and No. 18 in the two national polls, and the men led 11-7 before dropping a 19-11 decision.

Bridgewater Out-Hits Baseball Men
Entering Tuesday’s game with rival Bridgewater, the EMU baseball men were third in the nation with 331 hits in 27 games. While the offense got 11 hits against the Eagles, the pitching couldn’t reverse the hitting trend as BC had 16 hits and took the win by a final of 13-5.

Two days after breaking a seven-game losing skid, Eastern Mennonite’s baseball team got a pair of key ODAC wins. EMU grabbed a walk-off, extra inning win in the opener and then clubbed their way to a high-scoring win in the nightcap.

Royals Explode For 17 Runs In Win Over SVU
How do you break a losing skid during which you averaged a respectable five runs per game? Scoring 17 times should do the trick. Eastern Mennonite did that Thursday, taking over with an eight-run sixth inning en route to a 17-13 victory over Southern Virginia.

Additional rains in the Greensboro, NC, area Saturday night forced the postponement of Sunday's baseball game between Eastern Mennonite University and Guilford College. The ODAC game will be made up, although no date has been set.

Royals Drop First To Guilford, Game Two Moved To Sunday
The rain sure affected the Royals. After making the trip to Greensboro, NC, to take on Guilford, the men had to wait nearly two hours for the field to be ready to play on after the previous night’s rains. Then after dropping the opener to the Quakers, game two was postponed to Sunday afternoon, also forcing the cancelation of a non-conference game at nearby Greensboro College.

Men Take Third Straight High-Scoring Win
A day after combining for 50 runs over 16 innings, it looked like EMU and Southern Vermont would settle into a low-scoring affair. Then the seventh inning happened as the two teams put up nine runs. The Royals held the edge again on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep of SVC with a 12-9 win.

The weather was great for a home opener, with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 50s, but the Royals came out on the short end of a 9-6 decision against Mary Washington on Wednesday afternoon. Both pitching staffs struggled with their control, and the Eagles cashed in on more of their opportunities.

Freshman Bryan Melendez Claims Player Of The Week After First Games
Freshman Bryan Melendez had an incredible debut for the Royals, batting .571 in his first doubleheader, including a 1.429 slugging percentage. The debut was good enough, in fact, that today the Old Dominion Athletic Conference named the Eastern Mennonite center fielder the Player of the Week.

The Eastern Mennonite baseball team opened the 2012 season Saturday, playing a doubleheader at North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, NC. Despite temperatures in the low 50s, cloudy skies and a blustery wind made for a chilly day. The men had a successful start, capped by a 9-1 outburst to earn a split.

Royals Come Up Ninth In ODAC Poll
The Eastern Mennonite baseball team has its work cut out, as the Royals were picked to finish ninth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, which was released Friday afternoon. The men came up with 20 points in the vote by the ODAC coaches, just one point behind Roanoke in eighth place.

Jason Stuhlmiller Named Interim Coach For Baseball
Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Jason Stuhlmiller as interim head baseball coach. Stuhlmiller was an assistant last season for the Royals and has been guiding the team since Mark Mace stepped down in July.

Royals Bolster Pitching Depth & Add Key Position Players
Pitching depth was an issue for the Royals last season, but if the incoming recruiting class has anything to say about it, that issue will be erased. Of the 16 new players coming to Harrisonburg, 11 of them can pitch, giving Eastern Mennonite some new options on the mound in 2012.
